“Underground Utility Survey Based on Nondestructive Testing, Surveying, Imaging and Diagnostic (NDTSID) Approaches” Webinar
(5 January 2021)
The underground environment of Hong Kong consists of extensive arrays of utilities networks. All these networks serve our daily life through the provision of sewers, mains water, gas, telecommunications and electricity, etc. It is crucial to conduct regular and high-quality underground utility (UU) survey to ensure proper function of these utilities, thereby upholding efficient operation of the city.
The webinar aims to introduce the latest development in conducting UU surveys using NDTSID approaches. Representatives from the Singapore Land Authority and Water Supplies Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government shared their experience and insights in different UU technologies and applications. Representatives from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Hong Kong Accreditation Service also introduced the new specification standards for imaging and diagnosis of underground utilities using NDTSID approaches, and the new accreditation service for UU survey.
Topics of the webinar include:
- Digital Underground: Towards a Reliable Underground Utility Map in Singapore (Presentation)
- Application of Leak Detection Technologies in Water Supplies Department of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR (Presentation)
- How can Technologies of Nondestructive Utility Survey be Standardized in Specifications (Presentation)
- Accreditation for Underground Utility Survey (Presentation)
